As part of the 2020 round of population census, the All-Russian population census was conducted from October 15 to November 14, 2021.
During the All-Russian Population Census 2020, respondents could independently fill out census forms for themselves and members of their household in electronic form on the Internet information and telecommunication network on the Unified Portal of State and Municipal Services. Persons who did not fill out the census forms at the Unified Portal of State and Municipal Services were interviewed by specially trained census enumerators who filled out the electronic census forms on tablet computers.
Rosstat summed up the final results and the data of the census results are posted on the official website of Rosstat in 11 volumes. According to these data, the population of the country is 147.6 million people, including 68.7 men and 78.9 women.
Urbanization continues in Russia: 75% of the population or more than 110 million people live in urban areas, 25% in rural areas. In 2010, the ratio of urban and rural population was 74% and 26% respectively.
In addition to the population permanently residing in the country, the census counted about 349.1 thousand people who temporarily (less than one year) were on the territory of the Russian Federation and permanently residing abroad.
