Republic of Kazakhstan conducted a population census from September 1 to October 30 2021. Preliminary results of the census were published in December 2021 (total population, urban and rural population, number of men and women), final data will published in the 1st quarter of 2023.
The census was conducted using two methods of data collection:
- Via the Internet (www.sanaq.gov.kz www.egov.kz);
- Using electronic tablets.
According to preliminary data, the population of the Republic of Kazakhstan was 19.1 million people. Of the total population, 11.7 million (61.3%) were urban, and 7.4 million (38.7%) live in rural areas.
At the same time, 9.3 million men (48,7 %) and 9.8 million women (51,3 %) were registered in the republic.
