As part of the 2020 round of the population census, the Republic of Azerbaijan conducted a population census within the established time frame from October 1 to October 10, 2019. During it, the traditional method of interviewing the population by census workers was used paper census questionnaires.
The processing of the received materials and the final summing up were completed in the first half of 2022. A set of control procedures was carried out, which ensured the completeness of population registration during the census and quality control of filling in the census questionnaires.
Based on the organizational plan, 720 census areas, 6777 instructor areas, 33907 counting areas was completed. After the completion of the census zoning, 42844 people were involved in temporary work on conducting the population census, including 1440 heads and their deputies of census areas, 6777 instructors, 33907 enumerators and 720 reserve of enumerators.
According to the State Statistics Committee, as of August 1, 2019, the population of Azerbaijan amounted to 10,3 million people. 52.8% of the country's population lives in cities, 47.2% in rural areas. Males constitute 49.9% of the population and females 50.1%.
