On November 27 of this year, a meeting of the “Coordination Group of Development Partners” (Development Partners' Coordination Group) was held in Tashkent at the initiative of the National Statistics Committee. It discussed the processes of preparation for the population and agriculture census to be held in Uzbekistan in 2026.
Representatives of the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), UNICEF, UNESCO, UN Women, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the World Health Organization (WHO) and a number of other authoritative international organizations took part in the meeting offline and online.
At the meeting, the leadership of the National Statistics Committee provided detailed information on the process of preparation for the 2026 census. In particular, the state of organizational work, mass awareness-raising events, training of responsible employees, widespread use of modern information technologies, ensuring the security of personal data, international cooperation, and other pressing issues were discussed.
UNFPA, FAO, and the International Organization for Migration also presented their presentations on the joint work being carried out on the census event, areas of support, and the results of mutual cooperation. The questionnaire, approved on the basis of a positive conclusion of UNFPA and FAO organizations, consists of 71 questions, 54 of which relate to the population and 17 to agriculture.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on organizing the 2026 population and agricultural census in full compliance with international standards, with high quality and based on broad international cooperation, further strengthening and expanding mutual cooperation.
For information, from January 15 to February 28, 2026, a population and agricultural census will be conducted in Uzbekistan. The event will be held in two stages: from January 15 to 31 - online through the census.stat.uz website, and for the next 1 month - with the participation of members of the “mahalla seven”.
